Roma and Travellers: Inclusive Education Ambassadors meet in Strasbourg

Eleven newly appointed “Inclusive Education Ambassadors” from Albania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, the Slovak Republic, and the United Kingdom are meeting for the first time on 28-29 March to discuss promoting quality inclusive education for Roma and Travellers in their respective countries in the months to come.

Comprising Roma and non-Roma human rights activists, former students of segregated and special schools, teachers, school principals and journalists, these ambassadors will share inspirational stories on inclusive education for the common goal of promoting quality inclusive education for all children.

The meeting in Strasbourg, France, will help to develop and implement communication activities on the value and benefit of inclusive education and educational desegregation. The ambassadors will also support educators and relevant educational authorities to improve learning and governance processes to respond to the needs of all children, irrespective of their socio-economic, ethnic, language and other differences.

This project is being carried out under the framework of the European Union & Council of Europe Joint Project – Inclusive Schools: Making a Difference for Roma Children (INSCHOOL).
