On 24 November, the exhibition "Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe in Italy: a European heritage" was unveiled in Strasbourg in the Foyer of the Committee of Ministers of the Palais de l'Europe. The exhibition is part of the programme of events accompanying the Italian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The exhibition was inaugurated in the presence of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, H.E. Marija PEJČINOVIĆ BURIĆ; the Permanent Representative of Italy to the Council of Europe, H.E. Ambassador Michele GIACOMELLI and Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes (EPA) and Director of the European Institute of Cultural Routes (EICR) and attended by Permanent Representatives of the 47 member States of the Council of Europe.

The Secretary General, Mrs. PEJČINOVIĆ BURIĆ, stressed that “the Italian Chairmanship of our Committee of Ministers has clearly indicated the importance it attaches to the promotion of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe”. “This event demonstrates the extent to which Italy has developed and maintained the Cultural Routes on its own territory. [...] The Cultural Routes illuminate our pan-European identity, and I am grateful to the Italian authorities for their commitment and for bringing this exhibition here today," she concluded. Ambassador GIACOMELLI said that "the exhibition is an important tool to bring people and institutions together, in the spirit of intercultural dialogue”.

Mr. Stefano DOMINIONI stressed that it is gratifying to see Italy recognizing the growing strength of the program by choosing - as many Committee of Ministers' Presidencies have done before - to highlight and promote the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes during their Presidency.

Promoted by the Italian Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, organized by the Secretariat of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA), in collaboration with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (Luxembourg) and in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institute of Strasbourg, the exhibition consists of 29 panels with texts and images through which visitors can explore and retrace the Routes that cross Italy: centuries-old itineraries that connect cultures, languages, histories and traditions, constituting a tangible example of a shared and living cultural heritage..
