Înapoi The CPT publishes report on Kosovo*

The Council of Europe’s Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) published today the report on its most recent visit to Kosovo* from 15 to 22 April 2015, together with the response of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

The report focuses on the measures taken by the relevant authorities following the recommendations made by the Committee after its previous visit (in 2010). In this connection, particular attention is paid to the treatment and conditions of detention of persons in police custody and the situation in penitentiary establishments (including the regime for juvenile offenders, remand prisoners and inmates held in a new high-security prison and the provision of health care). The report also deals with the legal safeguards offered to civil and forensic psychiatric patients.

In UNMIK’s response, the relevant authorities outline the measures taken to implement the recommendations made by the Committee.

The CPT’s report and UNMIK’s response are available at: http://www.cpt.coe.int

The main findings of the CPT are set out in the Executive Summary of the report (available in English, Albanian and Serbian).
