On 25 October, the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) joined the Network of Universities on Cultural Routes Studies through a General Framework Agreement of Collaboration with the European Institute of Cultural Routes.  On the occasion CGU was represented by Prof. Mrs. Carla MARTINS from the Executive Committee. Mr. Eladio FERNÁNDEZ-GALIANO, member of the Board of Directors of the EICR, represented the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme.

During the academic event held in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme was presented to a audience of over 30 students completing a week course on Saint James Way entitled “Joining University Knowledge on the Way”. The Rector of the University of Santiago and many professors from the CGU attended the event.

The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) is a international network of more than 60 Universities focused on promoting the values of Saint James Way and collaboration among academic institutions.

The University Network for Cultural Routes Studies is a network of Universities interested in the study of Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe. The Network aims to encourage the conduct of research on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe related issues, encourage students to undertake their academic research on Cultural Routes, jointly apply for European Grants with the EICR, participate in the annual programme of activities of the EICR and offer scientific advice where required.
