European Qualifications Passport for Refugees

The European Refugee Qualifications Passport (EQPR) is a genuine tool for the integration of refugees into their host society and facilitates the recognition of their qualifications even if they cannot be duly justified by full documentation. This bet has been successful, as European universities have already accepted the EQPR, allowing refugees to enrol as students. A video on this project was presented on 2 April 2019 to members of the Congress' Current Affairs Committee, who are encouraged to promote the initiative in their local and regional authorities.

“It is really a crucial tool for refugees, but I think it is also crucial for local authorities and the host country which benefits from a know-how and a very positive experience for its own development” pointed out Nawel Rafik-Elmrini, Deputy Strasbourg Mayor in charge of European, International Affairs and Human Rights and Vice-President of the Current Affairs Committee.

The EQPR contributes to refugees’ integration and to the fostering of democratic and inclusive societies and is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan on Protecting Refugee and Migrant Children in Europe.
