The Congress carried out an assessment electoral mission to the Netherlands from 19 to 22 March 2018, in view of the local elections scheduled for Wednesday 21 March.
The delegation headed by Stewart Dickson (United-Kingdom, ILDG), Thematic Spokesperson on Observation of local and regional elections, attended pre-electoral briefings in The Hague, in particular with representatives of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations as well as the Chair of the Electoral Council.
The delegation also met with the Chair of the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG), as well as the Dutch Association for Civil Affairs (NVVB) and representatives of the political parties running in the 21 March 2018 municipal elections.
On Elections Day, four observers’ teams visited selected polling stations throughout the country.
