Strasbourg, 2 July 2012 - Thorbjørn Jagland today welcomed Bernard Cazeneuve on his first visit to the Council of Europe.

Topics covered included the reform of the Organisation, accession of the European Union to the European Convention on Human Rights and the Strasbourg World Forum for Democracy. Minister Cazeneuve conveyed the strong support of the French government to the reforms introduced by the Secretary General and to the concentration of activities on key issues of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

The Minister also visited the European Court of Human Rights.
