
During his visit to Slovenia on 9-10 September, Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland will participate in a panel discussion on the "search for the New World in the Mediterranean" during the Bled Strategic Forum. The Forum is a high-level strategic dialogue between leaders from the private and public sectors on the key issues facing Europe and the 21st century world. It aims to generate new strategies for Europe and attract the necessary political commitment.
The President of Slovenia, Mr Danilo Türk will host a roundtable discussion of the report ''Living together: combining diversity and freedom in 21st century Europe'', at 6.30 pm on 9 September. The report was commissioned by Secretary General Jagland and prepared by theGroup of Eminent Persons, headed by the former German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer. Other members: Emma Bonino (Italy), Timothy Garton Ash (United Kingdom), Martin Hirsch (France), Danuta Hübner (Poland), Ayşe Kadıoğlu (Turkey), Sonja Licht (Serbia), Vladimir Lukin (Russian Federation) and Javier Solana Madariaga (Spain). The rapporteur is Edward Mortimer (United Kingdom).
