Strasbourg, 19.02.2013 – The Council of Europe’s anti-racism committee (ECRI) published reports on Ireland and Liechtenstein today, welcoming positive developments but indicating issues that continue to give rise to concern.

ECRI has made specific priority recommendations to the Irish authorities on dealing with applications for asylum, registration of non-national minors under 16, complaints concerning employment, discrimination in the provision of goods and services, and regarding habitual residence.

The authorities in Liechtenstein have been asked, as a matter of priority, to specify the responsibilities of the new Office for Social Affairs and of the Ombudsman’s Office, to abrogate a number of provisions of the Law on Foreigners, and to look at integration of non-nationals. (more...)
