“We must challenge all acts of intolerance and discrimination”, says William Hague

Strasbourg, 21 March 2012 - “As Member States of the Council of Europe we must challenge all acts of intolerance and discrimination, which run counter to our shared values of human rights, democracy and the rule of law,” declared William Hague, Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

“We must challenge those who threaten these values and ensure that everyone can go about their lives free from discrimination, hostility and harassment.

The Council of Europe has an important role to play in supporting Member States in fighting racism, discrimination and intolerance.”
