Recommendation on the Internet of citizens

In a Recommendation adopted today, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe calls on member states to recognise digital culture as one of the key issues for modern cultural policy making. It also recommends that they revisit their cultural policy approaches taking into account a set of guidelines included in the Recommendation, which promote - in particular - the human and cultural dimension of the Internet as a counterbalance to the Internet of Things.

The aim of the guidelines is to ensure that equal consideration is given to citizen involvement in the Internet by the different stakeholders (governments, cultural institutions, professional cultural organisations).
