Members of the Advisory Board of the Horizontal Facility action “Quality education for all” in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) held their sixth meeting on 7 April in Sarajevo.
The meeting was opened by Krassimir Nikolov, Head of Section for European Integration, Political, Press and Information of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, Adnan Husić, Assistant Minister from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and Vesna Atanasova, Programme Manager from the Division for Co-operation and Capacity building of the Council of Europe.
During the opening remarks, Nikolov stressed the strategic direction and objectives of the action in view of promoting democratic values. “The action promotes democratic competences as core values for creating an inclusive society. Its activities are aimed at the future generations, equipping them to cope with different challenges and in the long term promotes inclusiveness, dialogue and combats hate speech”, he said.
Representatives of beneficiary institutions attended the meeting including the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, the Federal ministry of Education and Science, cantonal ministries of education, representatives of the Department for Education of the Government of Brčko District and the Agency for Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Education (APOSO). The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of BiH as well as representatives of civil society organisations, namely the Centre for Educational Initiatives “Step by Step”, the International Association “Interactive Open Schools” and the Foundation “Education in Action”.
The members of the Advisory Board discussed the activities and results of the action, in particular those organised within the grant scheme and implemented by the civil society organisations dedicated to the promotion of competences for democratic culture in pilot schools.
The action “Quality education for all” is a part of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
