The Week Ahead: Key Events and Meetings

The Council of Europe will organise a conference on “Preserving the integrity of sport by combatting illegal betting”.

Organised with the support of the ACT cooperation project (“Addressing Competitions’ Manipulation Together”) and the Marocaine des Jeux et des Sports, the aim of this event is to raise awareness on the phenomenon of illegal betting, one of the most crucial challenges in the fight against the manipulation of sports competitions, as addressed by the Macolin Convention.

Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sport of Morocco, will address the Conference and welcome the participants. The morning session will enable speakers to analyse the phenomenon and the modus operandi in the field of illegal sports betting. The afternoon will be dedicated to identifying best practices and concrete solutions for fighting this scourge.

Open to the media, the conference will take place from 10 am to 6 pm at the Sofitel Jardin des Roses.
