The delegation of the Council of Europe met the minister of health Ms Anahit Avanesyan.
The main topics of the discussions were focused on the cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe regarding the protection of human rights and ethical principles in the field of biomedicine within the framework of the project "Protection of Human Rights in Biomedicine II".
"The ethical rules for healthcare professionals were not only brought into the legislative field, but through trainings also became a part of daily work of healthcare professional. This was important to us. We are pleased that the project will continue. It is important for us from the point of view of reforms, including comprehensive health insurance, licensing of doctors, so that the latter meet not only medical but also ethical standards."- noted the minister.
The second phase will also target the protection of human rights in the field of mental health care.
