Back Execution by Hungary of ECHR judgments

Execution by Hungary of ECHR judgments

On 29 June, the Execution Department organised a teleconference with the Government Agent and a representative of the Permanent Representation of Hungary to the Council of Europe. The meeting aimed to follow up on earlier dialogue concerning the rapid and full execution of the European Court's judgments including enhancement of the national capacity in this area and of cooperation with the Department.

The meeting also provided a forum for discussing pending issues concerning notably the following cases: István Gábor Kovács / Varga (poor conditions of detention), Gazsó (excessive length of judicial proceedings) and X.Y. (excessive length of pre-trial detention). Further discussions were held with regard to the Tonello / Shaw group of cases concerning child abductions and the Horvath and Kiss group concerning the schooling of Roma children.
