Conference on ''Residence-based participation: a new reality of modern democracy''

In the Framework of World Forum for Democracy, the Congress and the City of Strasbourg ( France) are co-organizing on 27 November 2013, a conference entitled" Residence-based participation: a new reality of modern democracy".

This conference aims to examine the new perspectives of citizen participation at a local level, in the current climate of increasing diversity of European societies.

It will be divided in two workshops, one about "citizenship and the right to vote determined by residence", introduced by Vincent Reberioux, Vice-President of the Human Rights League and the other about " participatory democracy in an intercultural society" presented by Jean-Claude Frécon, President of the Congress Chamber of Local Authorities.

Roland Ries, Mayor of Strasbourg and Herwig Van Staa, President of the Congress, will open the conference at 9 am, at la Grande Aubette in Strasbourg.
