Identifying short term and long term policy measures in order to improve the quality of history education in the situation of growing diversity in the 21st century.
Providing policy recommendations to member states with regard to the development of efficient history educators’ training aimed at the fostering of competences, which will enable them to provide quality work in a multicultural environment and be engaged with the democratic processes.

Based on the experience of member states, guidance documents on quality history education in diverse societies.
A project based dissemination and evaluation strategy.
Outcomes
The establishment of clear links between national curricula and the principles of quality education in history identified by the project.
Recognising the potentially dynamic nature of competences, those needed for efficient history education in the 21st century which takes into account global dimension, increasing diversity as well as the development of new technologies are identified.
Enhanced understanding amongst policy makers, curriculum developers, teachers and teacher educators of how history teaching and learning might best:
prepare young people for responsible citizenship, adult and working life;
respond to the demands of diverse inclusive societies;
address issues of violence and conflict prevention.
Proposals for improvements in the quality of history education are agreed with the member states.
