Meeting of the Steering Committee on Culture, Heritage and Landscape

The Steering Committee on Culture, Heritage and Landscape (CDCPP) held its 6th meeting in Strasbourg from 10 to 12 May 2017 in the Palais de l’Europe.

Participants from among the fifty States signatory to the European Cultural Convention discussed the three main areas of the CDCPP’s work and their contribution to democracy.

Work included a draft Recommendation on the challenges of big data for culture, literacy and democracy, a draft Resolution on the Landscape Award Alliance of the Council of Europe, and the implementation of the new European Cultural Heritage Strategy for the 21st century, recently launched in Cyprus. Co-operation with the European Union on the European Year of Cultural Heritage in 2018 was also on the agenda.

The Deputy Secretary General attended the CDCPP meeting on the first day to mark the recent publication of the book “Culture and Human Rights: the Wroclaw commentaries”, which is a concise dictionary of cultural rights offering 124 key word articles.
