AEC-Albania initiates activities to strengthen the asset recovery system in Albania based on new international standards. The aim of this activity is to discuss the current asset recovery strategic framework , the operating practices for seizure and confiscation and the performance of confiscations with representatives from the General Directorate for the Prevention of Money Laundering, General Prosecution Office, Administration of the Management of Seized and Confiscated Assets District Court of Tirana, Serious Crimes Prosecution and two Council of Europe experts. The assessment visit includes discussion on the development of an effectiveness oriented National asset recovery strategy.

The development of the national recovery strategy represents one of the measures targeted at strengthening the AML/CFT legal and strategic framework based on European and international standards.
