The Bern Convention Group of Experts on the conservation of birds met for the 6th time in Sliema (Malta) on 21st June 2017. In line with its mandate, the Group of Experts reviewed the status of threatened birds, with particular focus on the need for the development of Species Action Plans, the effects of windfarms on birds, and the implementation of the previous Bern Convention Recommendations on birds and power lines.

In addition, the Group of Experts held a discussion on the future terms of reference of the Group, taking into account the priority issues facing birds’ conservation in Europe, as well as the added value of the Bern Convention alongside other relevant international and regional Conventions and Agreements.
