During the 17 minute interview he discussed the Council of Europe's perspective on a range of current issues including the Arab revolutions, the conflict in Libya, Turkey's role in the Middle East, the release of French hostages in Afghanistan and the situation in Belarus.

Secretary General meets EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton (19/01/2011)
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland, has been having talks with Catherine Ashton, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union.
The meeting came as the European Union officially opened its delegation to the Council. Both organisations have been engaged in a long-running process of forging closer ties.
Baroness Ashton welcomed closer links and said that the increased co-operation would enable other countries outside Europe to develop more effectively.
