Job ProfilesThe work of a non-specialised Administrative Officer generally involves providing the secretariat to committees of experts appointed by the governments (intergovernmental co-operation sector), or to parliamentary committees (Parliamentary Assembly). Tasks vary according to the respective fields of activity but Administrative Officers must typically possess organisational skills (e.g. to plan and convene meetings; set up agendas; ensure the smooth running of meetings; draft minutes) and conceptual skills (e.g. drafting reports, memoranda and other working documents in addition to conducting research into specific matters in consultation with the rapporteur or Chair).

Legal officers with the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights work on applications made under the Convention on Human Rights, prepare legal case files, conduct research into legal matters and draft documents of a legal or general nature.

Translators work on documents concerning a wide range of subjects, written in English or French (and, to a lesser degree, in other European languages) and translate them into their mother tongue (English or French).

Secretarial assistants may be assigned to work in all areas of the Organisation.
