Pharmaceutical questions
Pharmaceutical questions belong to relevant public health subjects which are in the scope of the Council of Europe since 1959. The terms of reference of the Committee of experts on pharmaceutical questions, defined by the Public Health Committee, are the "harmonisation of provisions concerning several areas in the field of medicines, with a view to protecting public health".
These terms of reference, which have a duration of five years (since July 1998, but subject to review at any time) enable the Committee to cover the whole domain of pharmaceutical practice.
The activities on this topic are intended to improve the rational use of medicines, dealing with the harmonisation of regulations, which is based on a regular exchange of information in several fields.
