First meeting of the Multidisciplinary Group on international action against Terrorism (GMT)
The 1st meeting of the GMT took place in Strasbourg, at the Palais de l'Europe, 12-14 December 2001. The meeting was opened by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe and was addressed by the President of the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering (FATF). The GMT elected its Chair and Vice-Chair as well as the members of the Bureau and decided to set up two working parties, namely: the GMT-Rev responsible for reviewing the operation of existing Council of Europe instruments in the field of the fight against terrorism including the European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism of 1977 (ETS 090); and the GMT-Rap responsible for preparing a report for the attention of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on possible additional actions that the Council of Europe could undertake in the fight against terrorism. 7th Plenary meeting of the GRECO

Council of Europe participates to the 2nd World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children
17-20 December 2001, Yokohama (Japan)
The 2nd World Congress against the sexual exploitation of children ended with a solemn commitment to strengthen the protection of young people against all forms of sexual violence. The Congress called for improved application of the 1989 International Convention on the Rights of the Child.

A Council of Europe delegation led by Guy de Vel, Director General of Legal Affairs, participated in the second World Congress against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children, held in Yokohama, Japan.
