| The Office of the Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (OLA) plays a vital role in international relations as it ensures the dissemination and respect of public international law at state level. In this respect, it appears in the organisational charts of Ministries of Foreign Affairs even though its name and competencies differ from one country to another. Yet, in spite of this, the public at large is generally unaware of its existence.

Le Bureau du Conseiller juridique du Ministère des Affaires étrangères (OLA) joue un rôle primordial dans les relations internationales puisqu’il assure la diffusion et le respect du droit international public au niveau étatique. Apparaissant sous diverses appellations et avec des compétences variables selon les pays, un tel Bureau, qui est une constante dans l’organigramme des Ministères des Affaires étrangères, est pourtant très mal connu du grand public.

| This state of affairs led the Committee of Legal Advisers on Public International Law (CAHDI) to decide in 2004 to collect state-specific information on the organisation and functions of the Office of the Legal Adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

C’est à partir de ce constat que le Comité des conseillers juridiques sur le droit international public (CAHDI) a décidé en 2004 de collecter les informations sur l’organisation et les fonctions du Bureau du Conseiller juridique du Ministère des Affaires étrangères propre à chaque Etat.
