Co-operation with international partners in the human rights field

The Council of Europe develops synergies with other regional and international actors, such as the European Union (including the EU Fundamental Rights Agency), the United Nations (the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) and the OSCE (the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights), with a view to ensuring consistent human rights standards at the international level and avoiding unnecessary overlapping.

To this effect, a network of exchanges has been established among the partners and it operates by relying on respective strengths and acquis. This network also contributes to the diffusion and the awareness of respective human rights standards and policies, as well as to the elaboration of new ones that respond to actual needs and provide added value.
