European Conference on “Mediation in
Administrative Matters”, Warsaw (Poland), 23-24 April 2007
organised by the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw
Within the framework of the Co-operation Programme to strengthen the Rule of Law and in light of the Action Plan adopted by the Heads of State and Government at their 3rd Summit (Warsaw, 16-17 May 2005), the Council of Europe, in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, organised a Conference on “Mediation in Administrative Matters” which was held in Warsaw on 23 and 24 April 2007.
The conference was intended to facilitate the implementation of policies which aim at improving the relations between the public authorities and private persons, in particular, by developing mediation techniques in the field of administration. This was carried out by a comparative examination of questions related to the use of mediation in settling disputes between public administrative authorities and private persons.
