The complainant organisation alleges that the lack of explicit prohibition of corporal punishment in the family, in all forms of alternative care and in schools violates Article 17 (the right of mothers and children to social and economic protection) of the European Social Charter. In addition APPROACH claims that the Czech Republic has not acted with due diligence to eliminate such violent punishment of children in practice.
