Serbia: visit of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities

A delegation of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities will visit Bujanovac, Niš, Novi Pazar, Novi Sad, and Belgrade  from  27- 31 May 2013 in the context of the monitoring of the implementation of this convention.

This is the third visit of the Advisory Committee to Serbia. The Delegation will have meetings with the representatives of all relevant ministries, the Ombudsman, public officials, NGOs, as well as national minority organisations.

The Delegation includes Ms Arzu AGHADASI-SISAN, Advisory Committee member elected in respect of Azerbaijan, Ms Anastasia CRICKLEY, Advisory Committee member elected in respect of Ireland, Mr. Einar NIEMI, Advisory Committee member elected in respect of Norway,  and Ms. Sarah BURTON, Administrator, Secretariat of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.

Note:Serbia submitted its third State Report under the Framework Convention in March 2013. Following its visit, the Advisory Committee will adopt an Opinion which will be sent to the government for comments. The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe will then adopt conclusions and recommendations in respect of Serbia.
