The Directorate of Co-operation implements targeted cooperation projects in beneficiary countries in the following areas: economic crime, legal and human rights capacity building, judicial reforms. In addition it promotes the efficiency of justice (the European Commission for efficiency for justice - CEPEJ), co-operation between European judges (the Consultative Council for European judges - CCJE) and European prosecutors (the Consultative Council of European prosecutors - CCPE) and the training of European judges and prosecutors (the Lisbon network).

Adoption of an opinion on relations between judges and prosecutors
[18/11/2009] A press conference will be held at the Brdo Congress Centre on Friday 20 November at 1.00 pm. following adoption of the opinion on relations between judges and prosecutors. Meeting in the context of the Slovenian Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, at the invitation of the Minister of Justice of Slovenia, Aleš Zalar, the CCPE and CCJE will adopt a joint opinion on relations between judges and prosecutors setting down minimum guidelines for co-operation between them. International Prize for Justice in the World awarded to the Council of Europe and its Consultative Council of European Judges
[04/11/2009] The “Justice in the World” Foundation, set up under the patronage of the International Association of Judges, has decided to award its prize for 2009 to the Council of Europe for its efforts in support of judges, referring in particular to the quality of the work undertaken by its Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE) since 2000 (more).

TYEC Project: Closing conference
[10/11/2009] The Closing Conference of the Project “Ethics for the Prevention of Corruption in Turkey” (TYEC) will take place in Ankara on 25 November 2009. The two-year project started on 1 December 2007 and was funded by the European Commission. The project, among other things, assisted the implementation of the Council of Europe’s Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) recommendations made to Turkey. The conference will be addressed by the State Minister, Mr Cevdet Yilmaz, as well as the representatives of the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The event will start at 14:00 on Wednesday 25 November 2009 at the Swiss Hotel in Ankara. The Press will be invited to attend the opening session.

Plenary CCPE and CCJE meetings, Ljubljana, Slovenia, 18-20 November 2009

16/11/2009]The 4th Plenary meeting of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE) and the 10th Plenary meeting of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE) will be held from 18 to 20 November 2009 in Ljubljana, at Brdo Congress Centre (Slovenia) in the framework of the Slovenian Chairmanship at the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and at the invitation of Mr Aleš Zalar, Minister of justice of Slovenia. This event will take place at the same time as the Plenary meeting of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE). The two Councils are expected to adopt a joint opinion on the relationships between judges and prosecutors. The text, which was jointly drafted by the CCPE and the CCJE Working Parties at their meeting in Bordeaux, in July 2009, contains a Declaration called the "Bordeaux Declaration" accompanied by an Explanatory Note. A press conference will be held on Friday 20 November at 1.30 pm at the Brdo Congress Centre of Ljubljana (Slovenia).
