"The role of the public prosecutor in the protection of individuals"
The
7th session of the Conference of Prosecutors General
of Europe was organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation
with the Office of the Prosecutor General of the Russian
Federation in the framework of the co-operation programme to
strengthen the rule of law and Russian Chairmanship of the
Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
The Conference concerned the role
of the public prosecutor in the protection of individuals. In
this context, the Conference addressed two topics : "the duties
of the public prosecutor in the criminal field towards victims
and witnesses, and in particular towards juveniles" and "the
duties of the public prosecutor towards persons deprived of
their liberty".
The Conference ended on 6 July and
was followed by the
inaugural meeting of the Consultative Council of European
Prosecutors (CCPE).
