Overall objective: To improve the implementation of standards under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), the standards and findings of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) and the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities (FCNM) in Kosovo.

The project purpose :

To build the capacity of institutional human rights actors and civil society to apply and ensure respect for European human rights standards in Kosovo, and to provide support in the streamlining process of the relevant structures within the human rights institutions.

The project pursues the following specific objectives :

to identify shortcomings within legislation and practice and to prepare recommendations on how to bring it in accordance with European standards,
to strengthen the capacity of the Ombudsperson Institution in Kosovo* and human rights units in Kosovo* municipalities through raising awareness of their staff on European human rights standards
to enhance cooperation between the civil society and Kosovo*’s public human rights actors.
