|Minister of Corrections Opens Training Seminar on Social Work for Probation Officers.|
February 2013, the first five-day training seminar on the role of social work in
the work of probation officers was opened by Minister of Corrections and Legal
Assistance Sozar Subari, together with Deputy Ministers Grigoal Giorgadze and
Employing qualified personnel and raising qualifications of staff is a priority for the National Probation Agency. To this end, a training programme has been developed, which includes specific seminars on social work for probation officers. These specific training seminars aim to equip probation officers with the necessary competencies to work with probationers and carry out social work and includes such topics as behaviourial changes of probationers and effective communication. It is envisaged that in total 81 probation officers will be trained in 4 stages.
The training seminars are conducted in the framework of Denmark’s Georgia Programme 2010-2013, “Promotion of Judicial Reform, Human and Minority Rights”, implemented by the Council of Europe.
