| Working group meeting to draft regulation for the prisoners transportation unit | ||||
In the
framework of Denmark’s Georgia Programme 2010-2013 “Promotion of Judicial
Reform, Human and Minority Rights”, a three-day working group meeting to draft a
regulation for the prisoners transportation unit will take place at Lopota Lake
Resort on 6-8 July 2012. The draft regulation will describe what the tasks and
obligations of the transportation unit are when it transfer prisoners, drawing
attention to the need to respect human rights at all times when prisoners are in
its care.Representatives of the Penitentiary Department, National Probation Agency and Penitentiary and Probation Training Centre of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance will participate in the meeting. One national and two international experts of the Council of Europe will contribute to the development of the draft regulation. The final draft will be presented to the management of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia and the Department of Prisons at a round table on 16 July 2012.
