CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS

The Council of Europe’s Directorate of Youth and Sport, the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and International Workcamp Organization Korea are pleased to announce an Asia-Europe Training Course on Environmental Human Rights, which will take place from 9 – 15 November 2010 in Seoul. Interested persons are now welcomed to apply for this programme to become a participant.

The training course will be structured as a five (5) day programme, will gather 30 youth workers from Asia and Europe and will combine plenary sessions, working groups, debates and study sessions. The central themes are:
- The connections between and the contemporary situation of Environment and Human Rights;
- The contribution of Non-Formal Education on Environment and Human Rights and the tools;
- The contribution of Youth Work and the concrete actions taken by the youth organisations;
- The role of the Public and Private Sector and the needed policies for environmental rights.
The course is prepared and run for participants who:
- Are citizen of a Council of Europe member state or an ASEM member state ;
- Are aged between 18 and 30 years (exceptions are possible if justified);
- Are fluent in English as a working language;
- Are active in a youth organisations and/or in environmental organisations, OR
- Are representatives from universities (involved in environmental issues or in other related fields);
- Have experience in environmental education, human rights or human rights education;
- Are interested in developing future Asia-Europe youth cooperation projects in the areas of environmental education, human rights education or education for sustainable development;
- Are supported by their organisation to take part in the course;
- Are motivated to take part in the course, to learn and share experiences with other participants and to remain active in this field after the course;
- Are available for the full duration of the training and, possibly, for on-line work from October to December.
All participants must be available for the full duration of the course. Accommodation and meals will be covered by the organisers. A travel subsidy will be provided by ASEF and the Council of Europe with a maximum of EUR 750 for participants from Europe and EUR 500 for participants from Asia.
