Activity 5: North-South Centre’s participation in the Euro-Med Youth Covenant
Date and place: January-December 2007
Context and organisation: The Council of Europe and the European Commission have developed since 2003 a Partnership on Youth covering 3 main areas of cooperation: youth research and policy; European citizenship and quality development; Euro-Med, Human Rights Education and intercultural dialogue. The role of this Partnership is to explore new areas of cooperation beyond those provided by the Euro-Med youth programme; youth policy is one of such areas. Similarly to the past years the North-South Centre will closely follow up the implementation of the activities under this partnership, specially the Euro-Med seminar taking place in the framework of the 8th University on Youth and Development.
Partners: Directorate of youth and Sports of the Council of Europe, European Commission; European Youth Forum, Euro-Med Youth Platform; SALTO Euro-Med; Anna Lindh Foundation; EuroMeSCo.
Target groups: Youth workers, leaders and trainers in Euro-Med, national agencies of the youth programme of the European Union and Euro-Med programme coordinators.
Objectives: (i) To reinforce the North-South Centre’s contribution to the Council of Europe and European Union Euro-Med Partnership on youth policies, training on Human Rights Education and intercultural dialogue.
Expected Results: (i) Evaluation of the Euro-Med youth research seminar and round-table on future cooperation (Alexandria, March); (ii) training course on human rights education, with a focus on South East Europe (Budapest, April); (iii) Euro-Maghreb training course on HRE (Morocco, May); (iv) Evaluation meeting of TATEM (Paris or Budapest, June or September); (v) Euro-Med seminar (Mollina, October); (vi) Seminar on the role of youth participation in Euro-Med youth policy cooperation (Budapest or Sweden, October); (vii) Evaluation and consolidation of citizenship and human rights education (Alexandria, November); (viii) Partnership sector Group meetings.
