3. How is the GEW coordinated nationally?
Is there any official coordinating structure?
· It is done on a voluntary basis by the two GEW network national coordinators for Malta and supported by the Director of Curriculum Implementation from the Ministry of Education
Or a Global Education national platform?
· Close cooperation has been developed between participating schools and NGOs

5. Please report on networking and/or coordination strategies developed during the GEW (institutional level / local authorities / educational & youth structures / civil society / media)
Malta GEW coordinators were contacted by a member of the NGO Graffiti in order to organise a preliminary activity entitled the Energy Road Show.
This collaboration was developed also with the Head of the Islamic School Maria Camilleri.
In liaison with the NGDO platform a session of activities were offered specifically for GEW by different organisations. Malta GEW coordinators helped link teachers to choose the appropriate session for their students.
6. After the week, any comments on the theme choice for GEW 2007 (relevance, adaptability, changes made to theme at national level, usefulness for activities with different age ranges, sectors, etc. )
· The title offered the possibility to focus on both social and environmental issues namely diversity, culture, fair trade, different religions, Climate change
7. Please report, if possible, relevant quantitative results concerning the GEW in your country (i.e. number of schools - classes, pupils, teachers involved; youth organisations or groups, young people or youth workers/leaders; conferences; training events; news features; materials produced, related figures and dissemination, etc.)
This 6th grade schools participated. Malta GEW coordinators organised a two day preliminary seminar. The first activity was organised at the Mariam Albatool School at the Islamic Centre and on the second day the participants focused on environmental issues thanks to the back up by the group Graffiti. The schools carried out various activities during GEW. On 11th January 2008 a Follow up Activity was organised with the main actors, namely students, who reported about what they carried out. Two guest speakers, members from the NGO Inizjamed, were invited.

9. For Global Education Week 2007,
· Is there a theme-choosing process at national level; if so, can you describe it for the benefit of other countries that do not have such a process?
· Are there any themes already emerging for the week at national level – if so, which themes?
10. Are there any existing or planned educational materials that you would like to share with the network?
Malta GEW coordinators are planning to collect the material presented by the various schools on a common cd.
11. Give concrete examples on how the North-South Centre has been useful in facilitating the Global Education Week in your country;
12. Please indicate how North-South Centre could improve its actions in supporting your work in GEW in your country and at the European level.
· Malta GEW coordinators require more pamphlets which suggest new ideas – Link teachers would really appreciate such material.
13. Please do suggest ideas for improving the GEW preparatory process; the GEW webpage and the Global Education Newsletter
· Encouraging more students and young people to browse through the website and make their voices heard by including a special section for their points of view.
