Self-Protection with Children in the Community - State of the art [FR]

      The general aim of the project “Self-Protection with Children in the Community” is to prepare children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old to face risks. We have an original approach based on 4 elements: to reinforce the links within the community and the transgenerational links between the younger generation and the elders, to take into account the specific needs of children for protection depending on their cognitive and emotional development, to take into account the risks in a global way and not to focus on a specific risk, to avoid fear-appeal messages and on the contrary to favour positive messages as reinforcing the links within the community. In this document, we reviewed the information available in the literature and reports in order to confirm our hypothesis.

The French Red Cross through different actions carried out by social welfare or in first-aid is present in people’s daily lives. The psychological support is integrated into all the French Red Cross activities and into all the rescue operations according to the principles of the Global Health Community: to treat the wounded, not merely the wound. Every day, during their missions, the French Red Cross volunteers provide support and listening to the population based on shared values of citizenship. The action of psychological support is based on the precept of being available for others, listening and dialogue. Les cellules d’urgence médico-psychologique en France: de la conceptualisation au rôle infirmier [FR]

Les événements graves – catastrophes accidentelles ou naturelles, attentats ou prises d’otages accidents collectifs – survenus depuis une vingtaine d’années sur le territoire français ont forcé la réactualisation d’un champ d’intérêt qui sommeillait depuis plusieurs décennies dans la vie civile : la notion de traumatisme psychique et ses conséquences. Nourrie au cours de ce siècle des expériences militaires des différents conflits armés qui l’ont marqué, la notion de symptômes séquellaires de psychotraumatismes prend ses sources dans l’histoire même de l’humanité (1). Dénoncée comme véritable problème de santé publique aux États-Unis dans les suites du conflit du Viêt-nam, cette prise de conscience s’est étendue à la vie civile dans les pays européens, comme la France. L’histoire récente des deux côtés de l’Atlantique témoigne de la dramatique nécessité, pour des pays qui veulent développer un système de santé susceptible de répondre aux besoins de ses populations, d’instaurer une culture du traumatisme psychique et des fonctionnements, organisationnels et interventionnels, qui permettent en cas d’événements catastrophiques une réponse auxbesoins psychologiques des sujets qui en sont victimes (...)
