Partner institutions

The Council of Europe is actively promoting international co-operation with other organisations active in the field of intercultural dialogue. One of the mechanisms is the cooperation in the framework of the “Faro Open Platform”, created in 2005 with UNESCO.

Among the most important are the following institutions:

• United Nations, particularly UNESCO and the “Alliance of Civilizations” initiative

• Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)

• European Commission of the European Union, particularly the Directorate General “Education and Culture” in the context of the preparations of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008

• Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures

• Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (ALECSO)
