In the Communiqué from the Bologna Ministerial meeting on 28-29 April 2009 in Leuven/ Louvain-la-Neuve, Ministers agreed that by 2020 at least 20% of those graduating in the European Higher Education Area should have had a study or training period abroad. At their meeting in Bucharest in April 2012 the Ministers adopted a ‘Mobility strategy 2020 for the European Higher Education Area’

Over 40 participants from public authorities in charge of education and eight higher education from both sides of the river Dniestr/Nistru gathered on 26-27 June 2012 in Vienna. The seminar focussed on the issue of student and staff mobility, on the main challenges and opportunities. The question of brain drain and how it can be avoided was also addressed.

The seminar gave opportunity to academic representatives from both sides of the river to express their views and opinions and exchange experiences. This seminar served to reinforce links between higher education institutions from both sides of the river Dniestr/Nistru.
