A new tribute to the President of Eurimages
On 14 November 2012, Jobst Plog, the President of the Eurimages Fund, upon decision of the President of the Republic of Germany, was decorated at the Town Hall of Hambourg with the equivalent of the Legion of Honour (Grossen Bundesverdienstkreuzes) as a ranking Officer. In 1999, the German President had already awarded him with the "Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse" which is the French equivalent of the Knight of the Legion of Honour. On this occasion, Mr Olaf Scholz, Mayor of Hambourg and former Minister of Labour and Social Affairs in Germany, paid tribute to Jobst Plog’s brilliant career within the heart of the German and European Cinematographic and Audiovisual industry and in particular to his role as President of Eurimages. Raised to the rank of Commander of Arts and Letters in 2002 (the highest distinction of this order) then decorated as Officer of the Legion of Honour in 2007 in France (after having been decorated as Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1998), Jobst Plog also received the Franco-German prize for journalism in 2005 for his commitment to the Franco-German cultural channel. Jobst Plog took advantage of this new award to promote the essential role of the Eurimages Fund within the European Cinematographic industry. The Eurimages Secretariat joins the Board of Management in presenting their sincere congratulations and share their great pride in their President.
