CONTEXT
The seminar explores the development of citizenship as a means of promoting identity and community cohesion in schools and beyond. It analyses the potential of the Living Together teaching materials as stand alone citizenship resources and as a framework for the discussion of shared interests through trans-national school partnerships. It also looks at recent work in schools locally on community cohesion and assessed its impact. Finally it ascertains the support available from NGOs and Voluntary organisations in supporting the teaching of citizenship and wider participation at a local level, and provides opportunities for learning partnerships through school linking trans-nationally.
