The Bern Convention has been particularly active on dealing with conservation problems of marines turtles in the Mediterranean, both in the framework of the group of experts on amphibians and reptiles, on the organisation of conferences, and in the opening of files for presumed violations in a number of important nesting beaches.

The 4th Mediterranean Conference on Marine Turtles will take place in Naples. Three international Convention support this Conference: Barcelona Convention, Bonn Convention - Convention of Migratory Species and the Bern Convention on European Wildlife. It is organised by the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn (SZN) in collaboration with the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (RAC/SPA).
