European Media Work Exchange participants commit:

- To go and work with a European colleague in his/her country during 5 days and to host his/her colleague in their own country during 5 days in return,


- To produce a common output between the 2 participants (media report, training resource or case study) and to deliver it to the Council of Europe in the following format:

Products
Written product: around 10 pages (15000 characters) and a written summary of 3000 characters.
Audiovisual product: 3 to 12 minutes on DVD and a written summary of 3000 characters.

Language requirements
Media products & Reports should have a summary in one of the official languages of the Council of Europe (English or French).
Training resource & Case study should be in at least one of the official languages of the Council of Europe (English or French)together with a summary of 3000 characters in English or French.


- To disseminate the common output within a media, training school, professional bodies, news room, etc.


- To allow the Council of Europe to publish the Media Work Exchange output on the MARS website


- To complete a survey concerning their experience as participants in MARS programme within 5 days after the exchange.
For any participant accepting these conditions, the Council of Europe will:

- Provide a prepaid flight or train ticket economy class for each of the MARS Media Work Exchange participants

- Cover living expenses through a fixed €310 grant for each participant and a 5-day period of exchange

- Layout and design of the output and publish it on the MARS website in the two Council of Europe official languages.
Deadlines

Due to the high level of interest and the logistical implications of the project, we had to set the following indicative deadlines for applications and project productions.
Pre-selected candidates should send the Joint Work Proposal form (by both partners) before the deadline for the respective exchange period shown below:

Exchange Period: 15 May - 15 August 2012 / Deadline: 15 April 2012

Exchange Period: 15 June - 15 September 2012 / Deadline: 15 May 2012

Exchange Period: 15 September - 21 September 2012 / Deadline: 30 August 2012

Exchange Period: 22 September – 15 October 2012 / Deadline: 7 September 2012

Exchange Period: 16 October - 15 November 2012 / Deadline: 15 September 2012

Exchange Period: 16 November - 15 December 2012 / Deadline: 15 October 2012


Exceptions: Please note, however, that should you encounter difficulties in meeting the above deadlines, you can contact MARS team by email (mars.crossvisit@coe.int) to discuss your particular situation and ask for an extension.
