Organised by the Council of Europe, Cultural Heritage, Landscape and Spatial Planning Division – Directorate of Culture and Cultural and Natural Heritage, in cooperation with the in co-operation with the Government of Portugal – Directorate General for Spatial Planning and Urban Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Spatial Planning.
Description: Four Workshops will analyse the following themes: ‘The cultural dimension of the landscape, for a new approach of the territory’; ‘The ecological and environmental dimensions of the landscape, for harmonious territories’; ‘The social and economic dimensions of the landscape, a potential for well-being and development’; ‘Landscape governance: a common good and a collective interest’. The Landscape Award of the Council of Europe will be given on this occasion. Around 120 participants from numerous countries will participate at the event. Link to the Programme
Additional information: The European Landscape Convention is the first international treaty to be exclusively concerned with all aspects of European landscape. The Convention represents an important contribution to the implementation of the Council of Europe’s objectives, namely to promote democracy, human rights and the rule of law and to seek common solutions to the main problems facing European society today. By taking into account landscape, cultural and natural values, the Council of Europe seeks to preserve the life and the quality of life for all.
