Michael Roth studied Regional
Planning and Development at the University of Dortmund, the Technical
University Vienna and the University of Amsterdam. He holds a Master
degree in Civil Engineering for Spatial Planning. Since 1999 he has been
working with several Spatial Planning and Development Institutions on
regional, national and supranational level, as well as for the European
Commission (DG Regio). He was policy advisor and deputy Head of Cabinet
of the Austrian Minister for Regional Policy. Currently he is in charge
of managing EU territorial cooperation programmes, coordination between
Structural funds and EU rural policies in Austria, coordination of
territorial cohesion issues and the National Committee for Building
Culture.

Markella Hadjida was born in
Nicosia, Cyprus in 1963, and is educated as an architect and a planner
in the United States, under a full tuition scholarship from the
Fulbright Program. She received a Master of Architecture degree and a
Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia, USA, in 1988. She is fluent in Greek and English.
Markella Hadjida worked as an
architect and planner in the private sector for four years, both in
Cyprus and the United States, and since 1992 is employed at the
Department of Town Planning and Housing of the Ministry of the Interior
of the Republic of Cyprus. Since 1997 she is a Planning Officer A’ at
the Development Plans Sector of the Department, responsible for the
Nicosia Local Plan, and various other Development Plans nationwide, as
well as for Urban Design Master Plans and other planning studies. She is
a member of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Member States of
the Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Spatial /
Regional Planning (CEMAT).

aujourd’hui les fonctions de Chargé de mission Europe au sein de
l’équipe « Développement régional et politiques européennes » de la
DIACT (Délégation Interministérielle à l’Aménagement et la Compétitivité
des Territoires). A ce titre, il a assumé le rôle de chef de projet pour
le programme de la dernière Présidence française du Conseil de l’Union
européenne dans le domaine de l’aménagement du territoire et de la
cohésion territoriale. Il est responsable du suivi de la coopération
intergouvernementale au niveau européen dans ces domaines, de dossiers
de coopération territoriale européenne et de la prospective territoriale

Dave Walsh is Head of the Irish Department of the Environment’s Spatial Policy Unit, whose main area of responsibility is implementation of the National Spatial Strategy (NSS) and forward planning policies. Published in November 2002, the NSS is a planning framework for spatial development in Ireland over a 20-year horizon. It aims to achieve a better balance of social, economic and physical development across Ireland, supported by more effective planning at national, regional and local levels.
The Section promotes and supports a policy framework for the planning system which seeks to achieve good spatial planning, through: strategic regional planning; clearly focused development planning at city, county and town level; better local area planning; retail planning; rural housing; and residential densities/towards sustainable communities.

Jean-Claude Sinner est né en 1951.
Il a étudié la géographie, l’économie et les sciences politiques à
l’Université de Bonn en Allemagne. Après avoir travaillé quelques années
dans le secteur bancaire, il a rejoint l’Etat en 1988. Il a travaillé
depuis cette date dans le service de l’Aménagement du territoire, qui
faisait partie de différents ministères. Depuis 1995, il s’occupe

Anja Delia is a planner who obtained her engineering degree in Environmental Planning from the Technical University of Berlin. During her university studies, she spent some time in Ireland and Australia, gaining environment-related work experience. In 2001, she moved to Malta and has been working at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) since then. Through her work she has become familiarized with various aspects of the Maltese landscape and planning system, having been involved in a number of projects, ranging from the Landscape Assessment Study for the Maltese Islands, the Gozo and Comino Local Plan, to the Monitoring of Landscaping Schemes. She has participated in several Maltese and Council of Europe conferences related to landscape. In 2009 she was appointed Malta’s National Focal Point for the European Landscape Convention and Malta’s member of the Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) of the Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Spatial / Regional Planning (CEMAT).
