MEDIANE - Media in Europe for Diversity Inclusiveness: Methodology

MethodologyMEDIANE looks at crossing professional practices and encouraging the media to work together to improve their capacities in including diversity and non discrimination as ongoing angles of media coverage.

To do so, MEDIANE‘s methodology is based on concrete, production-oriented and participatory approaches. Based on their respective competencies, know-how and requirements, journalism trainers, media professionals, news and media managers, etc. will work together through the European exchanges of media practices and during encounters to produce, but also to analyse, concrete outputs (training tools, media reports, etc.). By being participatory, MEDIANE’s approach will actively engage participants both as producers and contributors in all activities and to use the outputs and outcomes of one type of activity to feed the others and vice-versa. This inclusive methodological approach will genuinely help improve the inclusion of diversity in media content.

The innovative aspect of MEDIANE is the Media Index. Based on the recognised experience of the CoE Intercultural Cities Index, the proposed Media Index is conceived as a self-monitoring and decision-making tool, made for the Media and their professionals, on media diversity inclusiveness.
