The Intercultural Cities programme exchanges and collaborates with world leading research institutes.

 

 

Academic Associations and Projects

 

European Research Network of Excellence on "Sustainable Development in a Diverse World"
Major Activities: (2005-2011) focuses on the relationship between cultural diversity and sustainable development. The Network is co-ordinated by Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) under the scientific lead of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

 

Centre on Migration and, Policy and Society (COMPAS)

Major Activities: COMPAS was established in 2003 at the University of Oxford. COMPAS is to conduct research in order to develop theory, inform policy-making and public debate, and engage users of research within the field of migration. (-> COMPAS' 2011-2016 research programme).

 

ACCEPT-PLURALISM, European University Institute, Florence

Major Activities: Under the Seventh Framework Programme, The project aims to investigate whether European societies have become more or less tolerant during the past 20 years.

 

 Centre for Ethnic and Migration Studies

Major Activities: The CEDEM was established in 1995, at the University of Liège, Belgium. CEDEM aims to carry out theoretical and empirical research in the fields of human migrations, ethnic relations and racism.

 

Center for Migration and Development (CMD)

Major Activities: CMD was Established in 1998 as part of the Department of Sociology at Princeton University. CMD research is particularly interested in the relationship between immigrant communities in the developed world and development prospects of the sending nations. CMD also has been providing survey data resources during the last ten years.

 

 

 

Governmental and Intergovernmental Agencies

 

International Organization for Migration (IOM)

Major Activities: Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. With 127 member states, a further 17 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM is committed to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

 

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

Major Activities: UNESCO introduces international education networks in the field of Migration and multiculturalism by country.

 

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

Major Activities: UNFPA tries to provide directed policy, advocacy and technical support to ensure that international migration is recognized as an important factor in development.
