In the framework of the Social Security Co-ordination and Social Security Reforms, the 1st Speaking Days have been organised in Skopje ("The Former Yougoslav Republic of Macedonia") on the 22-23 April 2008. Relevant civil servants and/or representatives of pension funds from ''the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia'' and Bosnia and Herzegovina met in order to examine individual compliants in respect of social security rights acquired by individuals. 

Representatives of the two countries met together to solve pending cases on social security issues. 87 individual cases where examined. Some of the pending cases were solved on the spot and free legal advises were provided to all the attendees. Some other cases needed further looking into and the experts agreed to follow up on those cases.

The objectives of the activity were the following:
- To accelerate the resolution of pending cases in social security matters for claimants who may have acquired rights in the two countries;
- To provide beneficiaries with information about their rights;
- To allow the experts themselves to exchange information regarding the compatibility of their national regulations.

There were 87 individual complaints examined by the experts. These citizens have pending claims to social security benefits involving both countries. The list of complaints can be requested from the Secretariat of the Programme.

While many cases have been solved on the spot, the experts committed themselves to look deeply into the unsolved cases and to contact the relevant claimants once a solution to their cases will be found.

Both sides agreed that the second round of the Speaking Days on Social Security Co-ordination between “The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” and Bosnia and Herzegovina will take place in Sarajevo in the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009.
