Social policy makers meet in Warsaw to discuss integrated models of social services

Strasbourg, 05.06.2007 - How can social services answer more efficiently to the needs and the aspirations of the individual? This will be the focus of a conference on Integrated Social Services, organised by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Polish Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, in Warsaw, Poland, on 14 – 15 June 2007.

In recent years one of the key developments in the provision of social services has been to make them more client-orientated. In this occasion, social policy makers from more than 35 Council of Europe member states will be discussing ways of integrating social services in order to be more responsive to the nature of demand.

In December 2006 the Council of Europe adopted Policy Guidelines and a report for the design and implementation of integrated models of social services. The Conference aims to disseminate these Policy Guidelines and to draw upon specific policy and practice initiatives from individual countries.

The conference will be opened by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy of Poland, Anna Kalata, and by the General Director of DG III – Social Cohesion of the Council of Europe, Alexander Vladychenko.
